What's your trick for remembering el or la?

mostly -o is el and -a is la, except when it isn't. el día, la mano

Ah, la mano. Sí, that word can be tricky. Remember the background color for la mano is coral, which means it is a feminine word.

Yeah, the colors help. Teal for el, coral for la. I try to make my own sound-alikes for the gender sometimes too, like el viaje, I think of a "yellow car" for masculine. Pretty bad, I know.

i'm not sure how to remember if it's el or la. it's confusing. i just try to learn the word and el or la when i first see it, but then i forget.

I'm not sure, I just make up a little story. Like, el viaje, think about a dude named El on a trip. Or la comida, a lady named La eating. Helps me.
